Most importantly, the competition from OpenAI awakened the monster.
I got Sergey pilled lately.
I’m convinced he is a huge reason Google went from “way behind” to “easily number one” across AI in a single year.
The key is founder mode. One of its core principles is “Great leadership is presence, not absence.”
When you work at Google and see your founder (one of the richest people alive) grinding with you and diving into details, it hits you. You feel unstoppable.
