■ A student at Yonsei University realized something while loading and unloading packages
This post became a hot topic in the Yonsei University Sinchon campus community. It's a lesson learned by a student while working with package loading and unloading, and there are many insights to gain from it. It would be good to read it thoroughly.
"When I was an undergraduate, I worked part-time loading and unloading packages every vacation.
I did it as a temporary job to save money for overseas travel and to buy electronics.
But there was a guy in his mid-30s who graduated from Seoul National University working full-time at the mega center where I worked.
He wasn't just coming in every day as a part-timer; he was a regular employee working consistently five days a week.
When I heard his story, he had been making a living here for 2-3 years after the industry downturn while working at a big company.
But this guy was incredibly good at his job and worked hard, so when he loaded packages, he would just toss them without looking at the destination, and they landed perfectly in their spots.
In almost a year of working, I had never seen someone like him.
The average personal UPH (units per hour) was around 3000, but he was consistently over 5000, and there was a day when he exceeded 8000 UPH, prompting four managers to come and check.
He set the highest record among all employees in the five-story mega center, and the process on the second floor changed because of him.
I was so curious why he worked so hard and why he put so much emotion into such simple labor, so I asked him, and his answer was amazing.
I had also worked at a big company and received a six-figure salary, but seeing the big company I entered with prestigious university credentials, I realized it wasn't that special.
It was just simple tasks that anyone could do, and only one or two required specialized knowledge, so in the end, the most important thing for an employee is their attitude towards the work.
How you approach the tasks assigned to you and the attitude you bring makes the difference.
