I proposed an after-school club (our school has many) called AI Power Hour, where students would use AI for things like coding, website building, and passion projects. Normally, club proposals are approved quickly (no meeting required). Not this one. I spent 30 minutes explaining why teaching students to use AI responsibly matters. The AP in charge of clubs genuinely didn’t understand what I was proposing or why it would benefit students, instead she kept bringing up doomsday type “what if” scenarios. If the people making decisions don’t understand the tools shaping the future, students will always be underprepared.
