OKX Wallet is introducing social login, making it easier to create a fully self-custodial wallet with your Google account, Apple account, or email. There is no seed phrase to write down during setup and no separate backup step to complete.
Social login is rolling out across the OKX Wallet apps, browser extension, Web, and Agent via Onchain OS. It is designed to help you get into RWA, trading, DeFi, and DApps in seconds, without the usual wallet setup friction.
The problem: wallet creation is still too hard
For many people, the hardest part of crypto is the first step. Traditional self-custodial wallets ask users to write down a 12-word seed phrase and store it safely before they can do anything else.
That step creates a major drop-off. Some users abandon setup entirely. Others take shortcuts, such as screenshotting the phrase, which can put their funds at risk.
This matters even more as tokenized assets bring new users onchain. Many are coming from traditional trading apps, where signing in means tapping a familiar button. If the first thing they encounter is a seed phrase, they may never make it past the threshold.
Social login removes that barrier. You sign in the way you would with any other app, and your wallet is ready.
What makes OKX Wallet social login different
Many wallets now offer some form of social login. OKX Wallet combines convenience, portability, and self-custody without adding unnecessary setup steps.
Nothing extra to remember. Some wallets replace the seed phrase with a password or PIN that still needs to be stored safely and may not be recoverable if lost. OKX Wallet does not require that during setup. Your social account is your way in. You can enable an optional password check for transfers if you want an added layer of protection, but it is not required to create the wallet.
One login across surfaces. A single social account maps to one wallet across supported OKX Wallet surfaces, including the App, browser extension, Web, and Agent once available. You get the same address and the same assets wherever you sign in.
Self-custody with an exit option. Your wallet remains yours. OKX does not take custody of your assets. If you sign in with email, you can export your seed phrase using OKX Wallet on Web, and import it into another standard wallet. Export for Google and Apple sign-ins are coming in a later update.
Built for trading and onchain activity. Social login wallets support the actions users come to OKX Wallet for, including swaps, bridging, limit orders, strategies, and RWA trades. Wallets created via social login support Solana and most major EVM chains, so your assets and activity are covered across the networks you already use. On X Layer, free gas helps reduce startup friction even further, so you can focus on the trade instead of the setup.
How it works
OKX Wallet social login uses TEE, or Trusted Execution Environment, a secure environment designed to protect sensitive operations. When you sign in with Google, Apple, or email, your wallet private key is generated and held inside that environment. It is not exposed to OKX or to your device.
Signing in is simple: choose Google, Apple, or email, and your wallet is created. When you make a transaction, a temporary session key confirms your intent inside the secure environment, allowing many actions to happen smoothly without repeated signing prompts.
Because your wallet is tied to your social account rather than a single device, it can follow you across supported surfaces. Sign in on your phone, browser extension, Web, or Agent, and you can access the same wallet. Switch to a new phone, sign in again, and your wallet is restored.
One detail to note for Apple users: signing in with Apple on the standalone OKX Wallet app for iOS creates a separate wallet from the one in the main OKX app, because Apple issues different identifiers to different apps. Google and email create the same wallet across supported surfaces. For Apple, the simplest path across apps is to use your OKX app Apple login as your main login.
