If the banking lobby keeps fighting stablecoins and the American people’s right to earn interest on their savings while arguing banks are a utility worthy of protectionism, then they should be treated as such.
Utilities don’t get to charge whatever they want. Certainly not while running a business with insane profit margins that poses an enormous tax on small businesses with lower margins.
It would be one thing if the banks actually believed in free markets and capitalism and sane regulations. But their behavior on market structure legislation shows they don’t.
Banking is the least pro capitalism industry in America.
Maybe the President should cap all their profits?
