Hey friends happy new year. Over the holidays I spent some of my "down time" upgrading the Chromie Squiggle @YouTube live stream. Now anyone can choose the Squiggle that's broadcast around the globe with a few clicks. 👇
Visit to set a Squiggle and it's parameters. There's a four hour cooldown between changes and the same Squiggle cannot be repeated more than once per week. 👇
I created this live stream in late 2024 in an attempt to find the lowest lift way to make my art accessible on everyday devices. Most TVs now have @YouTube built into them natively, so just about any TV in the world can be set to display a Squiggle with minimal friction. 👇
Technically this upgrade is a huge change in how the stream is produced. In the past, I would select a Squiggle and pre-render each animation frame and ffmpeg stream the frames to YouTube. But late last year I ported the original Chromie Squiggle script to C++. 👇
This massively opened up the possibilities with Squiggles, especially on low resource devices like a VPS or a @Raspberry_Pi. The Squiggle in C++ renders an order of magnitude more efficiently in C++ and allows for this on the fly updating that you see on the stream now. 👇
The server hosts the Squiggle algorithm and a json with all 10k token hashes and marries the two to generate each Squiggle on demand in real time. It's a self contained Squiggle "appliance" that can effortlessly be ported to devices as simple as an ESP32 board. 👇
I'm doing a ton of experimentation around physical hardware + Squigs working towards experiencing, sharing and exhibiting Squiggles a much lower lift than before. Excited to be collaborating with @squiggleDAO and @Pakmanscoop on some fun stuff for 2026 and beyond too :) 👇
Anywho give it a whirl and tell me what you think! Throw the stream up on your living room or hotel room tv. You'll be surprised at how many devices can stream it. I have it running on my office @SamsungUS TV so I'll see the changes in real time alongside all of you. Cheers!
