Spending Thanksgiving with family feels like an "experience oasis": Worrying about burning the pie and if everybody in the room is happy instead of raising money, ambitious long term plans, or what's going on across the whole world. An old mode of being that's rare now.
I'm glad to live in a world where you need to coordinate with people on the other side of the globe and ambitious plans can come true. But it also feels like the smaller circle is good for the brain. Culturally we haven't figured out how to balance them ... yet!
