Exchange OS Architecture#

Exchange OS separates trust-critical functions from performance-critical execution. X Layer EVM anchors assets and governance, while X Layer TradeZone handles high-frequency matching, margin, liquidation, and settlement. Native state synchronization keeps both environments consistent.

This design preserves on-chain verifiability and user asset control while delivering the throughput and latency required by professional markets.

X Layer EVM & TradeZone#

  • X Layer EVM — Root of Trust: Anchors user assets, processes deposits and withdrawals, and enforces deployer staking, slashing, and governance. It is the transparent and verifiable source of truth for fund state.

  • X Layer TradeZone — High-Performance Execution: Runs the matching, margin, liquidation, and settlement engines with millisecond-level latency, up to 300,000 TPS, publicly verifiable state, and gas-free trading for users.

  • State Synchronization: Connects asset custody and governance on the EVM with trading execution in TradeZone.

XIP#

XIP is the X Layer Improvement Proposal process through which Exchange OS is introduced as a major protocol upgrade to X Layer. It establishes an open deployment protocol for on-chain markets and brings the deployer ecosystem natively onto X Layer.

With Exchange OS as the implementation, deployers receive the core trading stack out of the box and can focus on market design, listings, risk preferences, and user experience.
