you idiots. cancer is the #2 killer in the world. you cannot seriously tell me “cancer is going out of fashion now” like no you cannot say that. cancer might be the most algorithmically complex disease out of all. my hot take is that neuro is hard for structural reasons that’ll be solved in frameshifts in the 2030s. and I was the dumbass who thought they’ll cure cancer in five years in undergrad. let me save u the trouble: earth will cure almost all cancer sooner than expected , and STILL, there would be a single-digit % cancer that’ll get harder and harder to treat we will be lucky to treat those in our lifetimes if we try really really hard. oh and then there’s the cancers that’ll see an uptick because of 1. longevity/longevity inducing drugs and 2. spaceflight, especially to Mars. you know how early colon cancer is increasing for whatever reason? it might be because of n number of conspiracies, it might be random, but these sudden uptrends in unsolved cancer are not stopping. there’s also creating better therapeutics for cancer patients. this is a trickle down market that’ll explode, and we cannot let cancer survivors down by keeping them on god awful traumatic and painful chemo. you’re being insane if you think cancer is falling out of fashion in a way that makes making it a business focus obsolete . im not talking about pharma partnership seasonality here. that is merely a cycle. Almost every meaningful leap in ai drug discovery and tech bio is very likely to start at cancer.
