🛠️ Claude Code "opusplan"
As the name suggests, it's a hybrid model.. it's official!
You can select the opusplan model in Claude Code.
> /model opusplan
It's a hybrid model alias that automatically switches the model based on the task stage.
In plan mode for complex reasoning, it runs Opus,
and in execution mode, it automatically switches to Sonnet!
Of course, you can also plan and implement with Opus.
However, if you already have a solid plan, executing with Sonnet can be sufficient and more cost-effective.
Using the right model for each task = efficiency 🚀
Planning and execution require different cognitive loads.
Opus's deep reasoning ability shines in the planning stage, and once a solid plan is established, execution can be sufficiently covered by Sonnet.
When should you use it?
- For tasks where architectural decisions are crucial, like complex feature design
- When impact analysis is needed, such as in refactoring plans
- When cost savings are needed compared to using Opus at full power
You might find this very useful!!!
