Australia is declining by almost every standard-of-living metric if you grew up there. But it’s not “in decline” for people who immigrated from less developed countries. Unless population growth stops being externally driven, the future voting blocs determining living standards will average out to a lower standard over time. It makes me uncomfortable for my niece and nephews future prospects.
