The Milan-Cortina Paralympics, which featured intense competition over 10 days, has come to a close.
This event marked a significant milestone, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Winter Paralympics.
Japan's total medal count has surpassed 100, and it was a competition that strongly conveyed the history of parasports, paved by many predecessors who have passed it down.
While there were athletes who unfortunately did not win medals, the sight of everyone continuing to challenge their limits provided courage and hope to many.
Just as athletes who once aspired to compete after watching the Paralympics shone in this event, I am confident that the passion you all displayed will surely connect and become a great strength for the next generation.
Moreover, the athletes' achievements were supported by many who were involved in condition management, guidance, and the development, maintenance, and adjustment of competition equipment.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude not only to the Japanese representatives who delivered inspiration throughout Japan but also to all the supporters involved.
Next, we look forward to the 2030 France Alps Games.
I hope that in four years, all athletes will achieve further growth and success.
As a government, we will continue to fully commit to supporting the improvement of competitive abilities, including talent discovery for para-athletes, medical and scientific support, and assistance in the development of competition equipment.
