Better tone but substance still bad: “The Federal Reserve itself needs to have a policy where the extreme gravitas of the Fed should be used to talk about monetary policy and not to go willy nilly into every political topic if they want to preserve their political independence.”

VARNEY: You said the economists behind a NY Fed study that said 86% of tariff burdens falls on American businesses and consumers should be disciplined. What's your issue? HASSETT: Yeah, you know, I probably got a little emotional when I said that and I regret if the people who wrote the study feel like I personally attacked them. That was not my intent.
The paper is about inflation. I can't think of anything more proximate to monetary policy than that. And he is basically saying the Fed will (or should) lose its independence if it keeps trying to understand inflation dynamics.
