.@subinium I have a personal philosophical experience that came to mind while looking at the coding platform of Teacher 선생님.
It’s about the intense protagonist of 'Heyachi Cut',
the change in perception of Schopenhauer.
A misogynist, a pessimistic misanthrope.
These are the first descriptors that come to mind when I think of him.
Until I read the book, I too had a strong prejudice against him based on the rumors I had heard.
Nevertheless, the reason I picked up a book that easily explained his philosophy was thanks to the excellent introduction I encountered on the YouTube channel '인문학이랑'. (Highly recommended)
But what was my first impression of Mr. Hauer when I faced him directly through the book?
Oh my! Unexpectedly, it was 'humility'.
He passionately spoke about the noble role of philosophers to the point of sweating on his forehead, yet suddenly showed unexpected respect for ordinary people like us.
It was that because of our quiet daily lives, philosophers can freely contemplate, and the expertise of everyday people, while simply differing in direction from philosophy, cannot be disregarded in its intense depth.
But I was still an ordinary person.
Throughout the reading, I did not let go of the thread of doubt.
Whenever I had the chance, I was ready to push my prejudice forward, saying, "Of course, that’s how it is!"
But in the end, what remained before me was only my shameful 'will' that could not fully acknowledge that my prejudice was wrong.
He, on the contrary, despised the same philosophers.
To be precise, it seems he despised those 'tangja' who, in order to make a living from philosophy, spouted sophistry without even feeling shame.
