I just watched a video about how to maintain intimate relationships.
The summary was particularly good:
First, let's state a harsh fact: no matter how many secrets you have to keep things fresh, there will always be someone more attractive, more accomplished, younger, and more interesting than you, and long-term attraction is definitely not about novelty.
Even the most beautiful person becomes ordinary after a while, and even the most perfect person has various flaws when you get close.
Since keeping things fresh doesn't work and pursuing perfection is useless, the question arises—how do we maintain a long-term intimate relationship?
Remember three principles:
1. Sufficient stability.
The more solid and stable a person's core is, the greater the attraction.
This stability can be divided into two levels:
The first level is enhancing value; personal growth is a lifelong topic.
Don't expect someone to love you forever, but no matter when or at what age, there will always be many people who will love you.
Invest 30% of your energy in managing the relationship and 70% in managing yourself.
Realistically speaking, truly high-value individuals are likely to have more choices.
The second level is guiding contributions.
Long-lasting relationships are not based on how much love there is, but on how deep the bond is.
Guide the other person to keep investing—if they have money, let them spend it; if they have time, let them spend it; if they have resources, use those resources.
Everyone has a nurturing mentality; with their help, you become better, and they naturally don't want to leave....
