On “What’s Next?” I often think about when someone asks me “what’s next?” it usually occurs when I have just finished a project. I smile, blurt out a couple of uhms and then dance around answering the question. The reason being is usually I am in the throws of the emotional in-between when I have just poured my energy into the last work and am in the stages of turmoil not having the inertia or idea to start the next piece and/ or I am fighting off the the dreaded thought of … “what if I don’t know what is next, what if the idea never comes” I am becoming more comfortable in that threadhold, or as the Italians say “Soglia": meaning the start of something or a boundary… to enjoy experimenting without the pressure of it to become “my next work” and just process the fact that I constantly birth creative art into the world and taking time to move through the doorway into the next idea realm takes time but that waiting period is sacred and doesn’t make me any less ambitious for the future 🌊
