I keep seeing how people are raving about how they built a Typeform equivalent with custom branding, unlimited responses, saving ~$1,000/year or more with AI. Let me explain why businesses actually pay for Typeform, and why you have NOT rebuilt it at all:
1. What you've built, you can already do with Google Forms, for free (or for $10/month or so on the paid plan) Google Forms has unlimited responses, and you can create whatever form you have, and close to whatever Typeform has, just not as nice (you're welcome)
2. You've built the tip of the iceberg of what you see as a single-person user from Typeform What you've not built: - Collaboration features (when working with a team) - Reporting (eg dropoff reporting) - Spam protection - Localization support ...most importantly: integrations!
fwiw, Typeform's pricing is triggering: charging $20/month for 100 responses/month is some weird charging that pisses off most people ($1 per every 5 responses?!) They found this way to run a business, and clearly they target businesses with few responses Oh and their real moat is they sold all this to large enterprises with 100+ users using a subscription! Now that is far harder to build with or without AI!
@HAlfadel so it sounds like you want to volunteer to build + maintain the survey system that the 1,000+ folks at your company want to use, right? and deal with their support, feature requests, resource planning to run this, DB backups, failovers etc etc did I get that right
