I'm never sure what to do when views like this harden into partisan dogma within hours on Twitter. I had never thought about this question before yesterday and don't know how to identify independent experts who could confirm or deny it.
To be clear I'm not saying it's wrong. The opposite view hardened into partisan dogma on the left just as quickly. It's just that our process for amplifying experts has become so partisan that it's almost impossible for normal people to judge anyone's independence.
@Neal_Daviss In that context a volley of several shots seems reasonable. In the ICE case, in contrast, there was no reason to think she was going to speed off at 100 miles an hour and run over random pedestrians.
@Neal_Daviss So I'm not saying the conclusion is wrong, just that I don't have much confidence in it unless I know which cases exist on the other side of the ledger.
@Neal_Daviss This is what an independent expert would be able to tell me. But a partisan masquerading as independent is going to tell me there are no cases on the other side. And as a non-expert there's no easy way to find out if that's true.
