There’s really no other part of American life or law that goes out of its way to accommodate known criminals and continued violation of law.

The illegals should be locked out of banking
They should be locked out of wire transfer services, mortgages, of welfare, of social services, of public schools, and so on
Their employers should face raids, criminal charges, fines, prison time, etc
The resultant self-deportations would solve much of the problem
Take something simple like not paying property taxes on my car. I can no longer get the plates updated, which means every time I drive I am at risk of receiving fines. I can’t sell the car either. If it’s seen on a public road parked I could still receive a ticket. Every part of owning that vehicle runs up against a barrier that is only resolved by me getting on the right side of the law.
Do we have to send troops door to door to get people to pay their property taxes? No, you just make it extremely difficult to not pay the taxes. It seems this should be the obvious route of immigration enforcement. The only objections are from those that think we should have zero immigration laws.
