Even a decade ago a celebratory media could have cleared a path for Mamdani and compensated for his callowness and other deficiencies. I don’t think that’s the case now. Establishmentarians would love another Obama but the informational infrastructure and control required to manufacture that sort of consensus is a thing of the past.
