Talked to some academics about AI tonight at the white elephant. They see their students using it all the time, studies show your brain turns off when you're using it, yada yada. I'm like Yeah and of course some teachers are using it to grade, just AIs writing for AIs who grade them. No human ever reads it! And we all laugh nervously and too loud. Then I say I do feel I've learned more in the last couple years than i would have before AI. And they agree, and then they both start admitting how they use it all the time too, not in a bad way just to help their workloads. And how the administrators are using it to create more busywork, so they can't keep up with all the trainings and paperwork and regulations without it. And then we all laugh again, a little uneasily still but, like, we're in it together. So that's a start
