One of Russia’s largest military bloggers, Yuri Podolyaka, has admitted on air that after three and a half years of war the Russian army is still unable to supply its troops with basic essentials - underwear, socks, even standard uniforms. Soldiers are forced to buy their own kit or depend on volunteers funded by civilians. The Defence Ministry, he said, is perfectly aware of the problem but has done nothing to fix it.
