not sure why everyone is replying with the obvious. yes, the media & metadata aren’t always on-chain, yet the token id, ownership record, provenance, pointer to metadata, and CID defining the work are all on-chain (unless galleries &/or artists totally messed up, gl). my question is about naming. like anything new, the terminology is usually an agreement among market participants. this is a new category of artwork with cryptographic provenance, and this is a material distinction from all other forms of art. imo, 'digital' art adds nothing since that is self-evident when you see the art. also, i wish you would all stop and think about this since it affects our positioning and the future of the space. anyhow, i am quoting this to give it closure. 🖤
