One of the better signals for how far crypto has moved on from it's cypherpunk ideals is the rampant amount of anti-trans, anti-queer and similar rhetoric A space defined, in its origin, by its resistance to institutional power structures and the concepts of self-sovereign identity through pseudonymity, autonomy and privacy. It is no surprise that not only are these groups well represented in the space, but directly contributed to it The cypherpunks, punkrockers and hippies had the right idea You're not anti-establishment, you dislike taxes

"Privacy allows people to think freely. There's the space inside your head where you can basically think whatever you want and be fairly confident that no one is reading your mind. You can reason about the world and reason about what should happen in the world. @feministPLT #zcash $ZEC #privacyisnormal
to be clear, im not suggesting pro-trans or identity politics are a core part of cypherpunk ideology, it's the opposite. Anti-trans commentary is identity politics, this space attracted such a diverse set of people precisely because these things didn't matter as much as what you could contribute. This and the pseudonymity created a space where people could feel comfortable presenting however they wished and this was a good thing. I think identity politics is a cancer. But it is two sided, I'm pro people, and if someone has done nothing wrong - attacking them for how they freely choose to identify themselves (in a way that doesn't harm others) is not something I'll ever support You can separate individuals and freedoms from the tribalistic, divisive movements we see pushed on social media and similar places
aight muting this cos way too many responses, cheers to the differing views algo clearly fucking loves just mentioning the word trans though i guess - positive or negative. Nice encapsulation of the issue we should avoid.
