Yes, this is precisely what I'm saying. Our models don't actually work, in the sense that say Newton's laws work to build bridges, and the like Which leads to a puzzle. If our models don't "work", why are we so influential? Are we all really a house of cards?

Uhh that basically translates to “we are not interested in external validity”. Are you even still a science field if you can’t reproduce external validity?
The answer to this question is surprisingly subtle, and to some "pure science" kind of types a little ugly, but therein lies essentially the core of what the role of economics is in society
