Multi-chain is a reality. No one chain is going to be dominant. Stablecoins and programmable money are already at critical mass. At Avail, we have ended up building infrastructure for interop across not only chains using Avail DA but any other chain. I am thinking the iteration of this is to end up doing a universal programmable payment coordination network really that co-opts into a variety of popular and emerging chains without getting into the complexities of multiple chains - think like a unified multi-currency/token multi-bank account virtual card of sorts - ignore the form factor. Mastercard or Visa is basically an abstraction on top of banking rails. So is UPI or UnionPay. Circle is going about it in an interesting manner but I suspect you need a more participatory mechanism for this to bear fruit. Interesting days ahead!
