It feels like the on-chain market has hit rock bottom today 🥶
Then I wrote some code and found it quite interesting.
(AI is so powerful that even a novice programmer like me can slowly experience the joy of development 😂)
I also discovered something interesting~
The same AI tool (CodeBuddy) costs $9.95/month for the international Pro version (≈70 yuan), while the domestic version is only 58 yuan, and it offers even more benefits. Why?
At first, I thought maybe Tencent was ripping off foreigners 😏 but after careful research, I found out it’s not the same thing at all!
The international version uses models like GPT and Claude, which are inherently expensive and priced in dollars, so they have to recoup the costs. Essentially, it’s just a normal business selling tools.
The domestic version is different; it uses domestic models, which are much cheaper. More importantly, it might not rely on this for profit.
It’s more like an entry point to attract developers first, and then later make money through cloud services and enterprise versions.
So what I see is not "different prices," but two different approaches:
One is to charge directly
The other is to keep people around first.
I feel like many AI products follow this pattern.
