Eric Weinstein just said something that should stop you in your tracks.
Someone asked him how long we have before things drastically change in America. His answer was "get your board in the water and prepare to paddle. The tsunami of a lifetime is coming. And nothing your elders have seen is gonna prepare you."
Then he went further. "Every occupation that is named is over." Dentist. Over. Radiologist. Over. Accountant. Over. Teacher. Over. His words. Not mine.
And the part that really got me was when he talked about the optimization obsession. Everyone is trying to hack their morning routine and build the perfect resume and grind their way to the top. But for what? The top of what? The ladder is being pulled out from under you while you're climbing it.
He doesn't even pretend to have the answer. He literally said "I have no idea what's gonna be left for us." And honestly that's more useful than every LinkedIn post telling you to just learn to code or pivot to AI. At least he's being honest about the uncertainty.
We're 79 days into 2026. 280,000 people on our tracker. 61 notable companies. And most of these cuts happened in the last 6 weeks. This isn't a slow drip. This is the early edge of the wave Weinstein is talking about.
The people who figure out what comes next are going to be fine. The people waiting for someone to hand them a roadmap are in real trouble.
