Candace Owens once sued her landlord over a water leak in her building. She claimed this leak created invisible mold that spread into her apartment, exposing her to “toxic air” that made her mentally ill, somehow left her with scarring that required surgery, impacted her earwax, and caused systemic yeast infections that rendered her bedridden for months. She testified that “When there’s mold in the air, it can jump into your body,” which allegedly caused her “skin to rot from the inside out.” She claimed this was “pretty standard stuff” when exposed to toxic mold, adding, “It just jumps into your body from what I was told… body yeast infection… from head to toe, skin yeast… I still have scars from it.” Since she was actively being poisoned, Candace naturally remained in the apartment but refused to pay rent from September 2016 until she was forcibly evicted in January 2017. She ultimately lost the lawsuit and was ordered to pay $21,022.89 in damages and legal fees.
