I feel that the oppression in Japan mainly comes from the constraints of space. Everything in Japan is very small: small portions of food, quiet voices, small toilets, small bathtubs, and even the roads, vehicles, and houses are all small. When I return home, even though it can be noisy outside sometimes, I generally don't feel much. However, in Japan, even a little noise outside makes my heart feel uneasy and uncomfortable. I think it might also be because my home in my country is where I've lived since I was little, and with my parents there, I subconsciously feel a great sense of security. But I still believe that the oppressive atmosphere is related to the tension of the spatial environment.
