An unbelievably pernicious piece of hackery published by the NYT chronicles the replacement of the familiar profile of the typical mass shooter -- "a middle-aged man who was socially isolated and in despair" -- with an emerging new cohort of young person, citing two recent trans-identified male mass shooters without acknowledgement of their trans-identification or their maleness, thus implicitly suggesting that in addition to the new crop of being shooters being young, they are also female, and also ruling out any discussion of the role trans-identification may be playing in this dynamic. The shooters are still male -- with a notable exception of a young mass shooter who was a woman pretending to be male -- and they are, in the very examples cited in this article, both men pretending to be women, both men who were affirmed in their sex imposture by a medical and educational and social welfare system that tells us that declining to affirm children in their sex confusion places them at risk of suicide. Colluding in that sex falsification after affirmation went disastrously haywire out of deference to they very set of taboos that left the mental health comorbidities that afflict trans-identified young people to fester unaddressed is an extraordinarily bad faith act.
