Unbelievable! My AWS account, which I haven't logged into for 8 months, was secretly running a script by someone from Vietnam, racking up $34,000 from a $47 monthly fee.
Today, I was truly shocked by my own AWS bill; I've never seen anything so surreal in my life!
A few days ago, I suddenly received an email from Amazon AWS with a $47 bill, and I was completely stunned—I haven't touched AWS in 8 months! Where did this money come from?
I quickly logged into my account and was horrified: there was a micro EC2 instance that I had no memory of, running the whole time, costing only $0.0058 per hour, which adds up to $47 a month, quietly running for almost half a year.
At first, I thought I had forgotten to shut it down, so I was about to terminate it, but I clicked on the logs out of curiosity and was left speechless.
This was not set up by me; it was hacked!
Some old account credentials leaked from somewhere, and someone from a Vietnamese IP logged in back in February this year, only logged in once, never touched it again, and then deployed a bot script that ran continuously for almost two months!
I looked through the code and couldn't stop laughing—there were only 26 lines of Python, no comments, no explanations, nothing, just absurdly clean.
The functionality was ridiculously simple:
Listening to Binance WebSocket prices, comparing with prediction platform APIs, taking advantage of a 25-second platform delay, buying at the old price to make $1 every 3 minutes, looping endlessly.
I traced the wallet address in the configuration file, and the numbers were blinding:
0x732F1
Total profit: $339,140
Number of trades: 38,945
An average of 800 trades a day!
The account description was just one line: this account is not linked to any social accounts or websites.
Purely making money quietly!
What’s even more absurd?
This person stole my server access, didn’t steal my data, didn’t mine, didn’t cause any damage, just quietly placed a 26-line script, using my $47 server to earn $339,000....
