Rare sight! Khao Kheow Open Zoo showcases the adorable new member, "two-toed sloth baby," welcoming the school break.
On March 17, 2026, Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi province created a buzz by introducing its adorable new member, the "two-toed sloth baby" (Linnaeus's Two-toed Sloth), marking a significant achievement in the care and breeding of rare wildlife. The event was honored by Mr. Boonchob Sutthamanaswong, Chairman of the Zoological Organization of Thailand, along with Mrs. Jongkolnee Kaewsod, Acting Director of the Zoological Organization of Thailand, and Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo, who welcomed the new member in a warm atmosphere.
The highlight that brought smiles to visitors is the little sloth, nicknamed "Little Flash," a tiny heir who inherits the charming slow-motion movement characteristic of the "Flash" family, beloved by the public. The baby sloth was born to the young mother "Elsa," aged 6 (who was given her name by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi at the end of 2024).
The little sloth opened its eyes to the world on March 1. Although its gender is still unknown, it is in excellent health. Recently, on March 15, 2026, the veterinary team conducted a health check and found that it weighed 575 grams, and the baby will cling to its mother's belly at all times, following its natural instincts.
Mr. Boonchob Sutthamanaswong further stated that the birth of this sloth baby reflects the high standards of wildlife care at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, as sloths require specific and highly natural environments to breed. This is a special opportunity that is rare for visitors.
Khao Kheow Open Zoo is ready to welcome tourists to see the cuteness of the sloth family starting from March 17, 2026, as a gift for children during the school break. Additionally, the zoo is preparing to organize an activity for the public to participate in "naming the little sloth" for a chance to win prizes and create a bond between people and wildlife soon.
