"There was a time when the idea was that what you see on twitter (online) is actually the truest of the true....It's still true to some degree among a very select few...but in a sense much of the place is kind of a sewer...a funhouse of anti-reality.
We are actually in the early process of seeing the old theory of twitter die. It was kind of a democratic theory, or maybe a populist theory that casted doubts on any "establishment". But it's dying a bit for those with some brain cells who are in response basically relearning the logic of elitism."
Particularly within the online right, I see an intense hysteria, learned helplessness, whiny catastrophizing, externalization of blame - everything is always someone else's fault, everyone is a disinherited genius aristocratic who was cheated out of their birthright, who alone sees how things are (but can't effectuate anything).
It's extremely self-indulgent and tedious. Totally pathetic.
