I am deeply saddened by the loss of İlber Ortaylı, one of the greatest values in our Republic's history and one of the most unique guardians of our social and cultural memory. He was not just a historian who conveyed the experiences of the past to us; he was a unique teacher who instilled our roots, the spirit of the times, and the heritage of humanity into our minds. I pray for God's mercy on our precious teacher, who illuminated our future with the light of the past, made us all love history, and taught us to think; I extend my condolences to his family, loved ones, and all his admirers. The immense knowledge legacy he left us will continue to live on in our collective memory forever!
