The world has about 40 billion cubic meters of identified helium resources. Almost every helium atom in Earth's crust came from decay of uranium or thorium. Like all spontaneous nuclear decay events, this released energy. So our helium deposits represent past nuclear energy release. How much? Works out to over 300 exawatt-hours, enough to power human civilization at current levels for around 1,750 years.
