In a long line of screw ups, Trump may have made his biggest blunder yet. He flubbed the line and F’d up bigly. He looked right at the camera and blatantly lied and said that Iran bombed its own girls school. The press then immediately asked Hegseth if this was true and Hegseth said “it’s under investigation”. The evidence is mounting that it was indeed the US - making this one of the most brazen lies ever told by a US President. It’s not only brazen, it was backed by no shed of truth (if there was truth Hegseth and the comms office would have said it). It’s also an act of despicable evil. I think the White House was trying to be cautious, to spin and take baby steps to admit that the US & Israel killed these girls while massaging the message. They could have controlled the narrative more and come up with some BS about “human shields” or “tragic accident caused by Iran placing the school so close to a target”. But Trump, ever the grifter, couldn’t resist opening his mouth and trying to shape reality to the narrative he wants. Now they won’t be able to use that spin. They either have to double down on an obvious lie or have to contradict their boss. As the truth becomes more clear the press will rightly demand they answer why he lied. The horror of this is hard to digest. A murderous state who just killed tens of thousands of kids in Gaza dragged us into a war of aggression and on day one the US killed 175 innocent school girls. Then our President immediately lied about it to safe face and help keep his poll numbers from dropping. Nixon was forced to resign in disgrace because he lied about some dudes stealing files from a democrat’s filing cabinet. Don’t let this one go.
