Microsoft just made its BIGGEST AI move of the year.
This morning, Satya Nadella announced Copilot Cowork, a new system inside Microsoft 365 that doesn't just answer your questions but does your job.
You give it one sentence. "Prepare me for Thursday's client meeting."
It pulls your emails, reads your files, builds a PowerPoint and runs Excel analyses, schedules prep time, and drafts a follow-up email to your team.
But here's the part no one's talking about.
The engine behind it isn't OpenAI, the company Microsoft owns 27% of.
It's Anthropic, the company Microsoft was supposed to be competing against.
Microsoft partnered with Anthropic to build this on top of Claude Cowork, the same tool that wiped $285 billion off the software industry in January when it launched.
Wall Street panicked, microsoft's stock cratered 14%.
So Microsoft didn't fight it and instead started using them.
Copilot Cowork runs inside Microsoft 365's security walls, grounded in your company's actual data emails, Teams chats, calendars, and files.
It's an autonomous agent executing real workflows across your entire digital workspace.
This is Microsoft admitting the old Copilot wasn't enough and handing the keys to its biggest rival to fix it.
The era of AI assistants is over, the era of AI workers just started.
