Punch the Monkey Punch, a baby Japanese macaque born July 2025 at Ichikawa City Zoo, was rejected by his mom and hand-raised by keepers. At ~6 months old (Jan 2026), he joined the main troop but struggled , often alone, chased, or corrected by older monkeys. Zookeepers gave him an IKEA Djungelskog stuffed orangutan for comfort. Viral clips of him hugging it after tough moments blew up online, making him a global star (HangInTherePunch). By February 2026 he's improving: getting groomed, hugged, and playing with other young monkeys while slowly fitting in, still carrying his plushie for security.
