The Israeli army has ordered all residents south of the Litani River in Lebanon to move immediately north, a move that effectively advances de facto annexation by displacing civilians and asserting control over the territory under the guise of security operations.
Israel is making the same mistake it did in 1982, expecting minimal resistance, but today it faces a far stronger, well-prepared, and strategically coordinated opposition.
By pushing into populated areas and forcing evacuations, Israel risks falling into a strategic trap.
This operation could overextend its resources, provoke intensified local resistance, and entangle the army in a conflict far more complex and costly than anticipated, a trap Israel may find difficult to escape.
This is precisely what the resistance aims for: to draw Israel into an overextended confrontation that strengthens local unity, exposes vulnerabilities, and shifts the strategic balance in Lebanon’s favor.
