Facilitator fees are turning on across the x402 ecosystem. This is good and signals demand. Sei Labs has submitted a proposal to standardize transparency of facilitator fees. This would allow users to audit the fees they've paid and even express fee preferences.
Facilitators are a gateway for x402 because they greatly simplify UX for users. They handle native gas, underlying chain nuances, etc.—all the friction we've been trying to solve. With agentic AI, facilitators will soon be directing hundreds of millions of dollars in activity.
But servers still can’t reliably route across multiple facilitators based on cost, and users can’t easily audit what they’ve paid in fees. With support from facilitators and x402 devs, Sei Labs has submitted a proposal that would standardize fee disclosure: facilitatorFees.
