I once won 1st place at a poker tournament a few years ago in Vegas. Nothing big. Think 1st place was like $5,500 or $6,000. Out of 150 players. It was amazing. Hit everything on the turn and/or river when behind. Literally everything. Took like 8hrs or something. Eyes completely bloodshot and bags larger than the ones Whole Foods has. It’s no joke when they say you need a lot of red bull, stretching, eye drops, EDM music in your air pods. When it finally came time for the final heads up, other guy said hey let’s chop, as stacks were fairly even. I didn’t know the proper etiquette that usually you are supposed to? I said nah, I never got this far so let’s play it out. He wasn’t too thrilled. 5 hands later and he went all in. Called. My winning hand was like J 7 offsuit. Still remember. I was ecstatic after winning. Tipped the dealer $200. Tipped the floor guy like $200. And then the cashier like $100. Just pure joy. Cause I never win anything ya know?! It was at that point I thought hey you know what maybe I can pursue this poker thing for side income ya know?!? 25ish poker tourneys since…. ….and cashed ZERO of them. I was what you call just beginners/dumb luck. /endstory
