I think 𝕏 is going to become the world’s central hub for how people move and manage money. Whether people believe it or not, this platform is evolving into an “everything” app, a one stop shop where communication, commerce, and finance all live together.
Btw this isn’t random.
Elon has been chasing this idea since 1999 with which later became PayPal. What the team is building now with 𝕏 Money is essentially the second attempt, but this time with a built-in global audience and a social network at scale.
The goal is clear to me… if it involves money, it will be possible to do it on 𝕏.
I’m talking about:
• sending money instantly to friends
• storing funds in a digital wallet
• paying creators and receiving payouts
• shopping inside the app
• integrating crypto payments
• earning interest and managing investments (buying and selling stock/crypto)
This will go far beyond just sending $20 to a friend. The long-term vision is that you will not need a traditional bank for everyday financial life.
The groundwork is already being laid.
As of 2025, 𝕏 Payments LLC has secured money transmitter licenses in more than 40 U.S. states and is registered with FinCEN. That’s a MAJOR regulatory hurdle and the same foundation required to compete with services like Venmo, Cash App, or Zelle.
They’ve also partnered with Visa, the largest credit card network in the U.S., to support instant peer-to-peer payments, digital wallets, and debit card connections. Soon, a dedicated payment button inside the 𝕏 app is going to make transactions as simple as sending a message.
Then, let’s not forget, there’s the built-in scale.
𝕏 already has ~600 million monthly active users, with ambitions to exceed 1 billion and more. If even a fraction of us adopt in-app payments, it instantly becomes one of the largest financial ecosystems in the world!
IMO, that’s the real combo… combining money with social behavior.
