i directionally agree with vitalik here but i also think there’s a concession to make wrt gambling: we’re approaching terminal velocity on hyergambling. and the big winners right now are the sportsbooks that are the best at advertising, getting users addicted, and limiting savvy bettors. prediction markets and other open crypto implementations *could* at least drive the space to be more competitive. can a zero edge prediction market that drives revenue from AUM yield be competitive? i’m not sure. i hope so. kalshi drives us further into the “bad” outcome and polymarket is slipping that way too i don’t think we can eliminate the house but crypto can drive the “standards” of the house to be more fair, open, transparent… we have no real traction in this regard but i’m hopeful we one day might
