Something very interesting is happening with culture. There’s no longer a real financial penalty for having massively out of distribution ideas. You can say whatever you want, and consequences (as long as you’re not entirely locked into surface society) are incredibly inconsistent. If anything happens, when people are shamed for behaviors within one group, they simply move through the cultural barrier osmotically to whatever environment is OK with it. Culture is as federated now as states in the US are. And the race / sexuality tribalism seems… dated and meaningless. A few people still participate, like WWII era prisoners of war who never got the news that the war ended in 1969. The infrastructure is built. Culture is representative of the entire Overton window. It feels spiritually 2006. Regardless of people I may disagree with no longer being forced invisible under the threat of financial harm, 2006 feels a lot better than 2020.
