BREAKING: Ring just cancelled their partnership with #Flock. Now, should you trust @ring now? No. After all they thought this was a good idea. But this shows that pressure works. Be the backlash against surveillance that you want to see in the world. Voice your disgust over surveillance grabs & show it by cancelling subscriptions and tossing devices. 1/
3/ Oof, @ring communications not acknowledging the lesson they just got taught is a bad sign: Consumers do not to pay for a want a China-like surveillance camera net. That's not why they bought Ring cameras. And they are savvy enough to see through sappy dog pics.
4/ If Ring were smart, now would be a time to highlight their privacy features, make them easier to use, and introduce new ones. Americans want more control of their privacy right now. More ways to feel like companies aren't encroaching on their families. And in the longer term? Stop trying to build a surveillance dystopia consumers didn't ask for, and focus on shipping good, private products.
@ring 5/ On the left? a picture of mass surveillance from @Ring's ad. On the right? A ring spox telling @jp2e that they are not doing mass surveillance. The company cannot have it both ways.
