CUBO+ Launches New Generation with Global Bitcoin Leaders
The fifth generation of the National Bitcoin Office's educational program began its theoretical phase with masterclasses from Saifedean Ammous, Wiz, Giacomo Zucco, and Luca Esposito.
The new CUBO+ cohort officially began its academic cycle with the participation of leading international figures in the Bitcoin ecosystem, an opening that reaffirms the high-level nature of the program promoted by the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC).
This cohort is the fifth generation since the program's creation in 2023. The first edition was held that year; two additional generations took place in 2024; one more in 2025; and now the 2025-2026 cohort has been combined into a single, expanded training program. Furthermore, the program introduces a significant methodological adjustment: it will be divided into two phases, a theoretical (non-tech) phase and a practical (tech) phase. Currently, students are completing the theoretical phase.
The opening session was led by @saifedean, economist and author of *The Bitcoin Standard*, one of the most influential works on the economic understanding of Bitcoin. Ammous addressed the fundamentals of the so-called "Bitcoin Standard," delving into concepts such as digital scarcity, monetary theory, and Bitcoin's role as a global store of value. His presentation underscored the program's conceptual and economic foundation.
The technical-theoretical component also featured @wiz, a developer renowned for his work on one of the most widely used platforms for monitoring the Bitcoin network in real time. During his presentation, he explained how the mempool works—the space where pending transactions are grouped before confirmation—and its importance for understanding the dynamics of fees, congestion, and network security.
Another academic session included a specialized block on power law theory applied to Bitcoin, taught by @giacomozucco and Luca Esposito, both European analysts and educators involved in the study of network behavior and its economic implications. Power law is a statistical model that some researchers use to analyze long-term growth and adoption patterns of Bitcoin.
@cuboplus is the flagship educational initiative of the @bitcoinofficesv and aims to prepare Salvadoran talent to competitively integrate into the global Bitcoin ecosystem. The program lasts approximately three months and combines online classes with live sessions, taught primarily in English. The admissions process is rigorous, as each selected student receives a full scholarship.
Previous editions have featured figures such as Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream and creator of Hashcash, the technology that inspired Satoshi Nakamoto; Jack Mallers, CEO of Strike; and Pierre Rochard, an executive in the US mining sector. Over the years, more than 500 Salvadorans have been trained, many of whom now work in companies within the sector, both nationally and internationally.
With this new cohort and the incorporation of global leaders from the beginning of the cycle, the ONBTC reinforces its commitment to the training of specialized human capital as a strategic axis of the country's bitcoin policy, aiming to consolidate a new generation of professionals capable of understanding, developing and leading within a globally expanding industry.
