It’s so wild how supporters of the MEK think their psychopathic leader, Maryam Rajavi, ever has a chance of doing anything in Iran. If it weren’t for my years of reporting on Church of Scientology — a similar situation involving a cult with very few supporters but lots of money — it would truly shock me. Another thing reporting on Scientology prepared me for is the fact that the MEK has members who are abused as part of its workforce in Albania, while also having supporters who are civilians in the West. It’s jarring to see an attorney or real estate agent in the United States or Canada supporting the MEK — but again, this is how Scientology operates: they live and work among the masses.
