Joining OpenSea’s Flagship Collection…
@unofficialmfers — a CC0 collection by @sartoshi_rip defined by hand-drawn simplicity, internet-native irony, and a culture that celebrated vibes over a roadmap.
Welcome home, 1091!
More below. 👇

Launched in 2021 by pseudonymous artist Sartoshi, mfers quickly became one of the most influential expressions of crypto-native culture. Built without a roadmap or utility, the project captured a rare sense of freedom in simply showing up and participating.
After discovering CryptoPunks and drawing cartoons on the side, Sartoshi shared a sketch of a slouched, headphone-wearing kid with a cigarette. That image became both his PFP and the foundation for mfers.
mfers spans five types: Alien, Zombie, Ape, Charcoal, and Plain, and include 21 hand-drawn one-of-one pieces alongside Sartoshi’s hand-drawn traits such as chains, hats, headphones, and the iconic 4:20 watch.
With no copyrights reserved, the artwork was released fully into the public domain enabling unrestricted remixing and commercialization. This wasn’t a footnote. It was the point. mfers prioritized culture over control and treated decentralization as a core tenant of its DNA.
Even after Sartoshi stepped away, the project endured. Carried on by its holders and its permissionless design.
The inclusion of mfers in our Flagship Collection recognizes a project that helped define crypto-native culture by rejecting polish, promises, and pretense. And lasting anyway.
