What if Trump wants a Fed chairman to do the right thing, but wants to publicly criticize him for doing so? That way he has the Fed as a scapegoat for all the problems doing the right thing will cause in the short run. If so, then all of his criticism of Powell is just an act.

I'm not saying I believe this. I'm just putting it out there to ponder.
